And we're off

All packed up and ready to go
Before Andrew was born Kevin and I did a four week loop around the country and since then we've always talked about how we would like to take our kids out west to do a similar trip. Realistically we thought it would be another couple of years. However, sometime this winter it appeared that Simeon was giving up his nap and we started wondering if the time was right. Kevin was more convinced that I was and started looking into scheduling and routes. Five or six weeks ago we decided to go for it and now here we are, getting ready to drive into Iowa!

There isn't much exciting to report yet. Yesterday we drove through Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and stopped in the middle of Illinois for the night. The kids were troopers, listening to audio books, reading Calvin and Hobbes, watching DVDs, and playing the license plate game. Sweet friends gave us snacks for the road and fun surprises to open along the way, which have helped pass the time. There's plenty more driving to do on this trip, so we just opened a few yesterday.

  2. They all look so thrilled! What Fun. I showed V. He says "Hi Simeon! I love you. I got an idea, I want to be in your car too! I could sit right next to you. That would be fun! Look and see if you see a bear. And when you get to Utah by my grandma look for a moose!" And we all agree;) Have so much fun!

  7. So excited to follow along! Y'all are much more efficient than we are; we've only tackled Tennessee and North Carolina so far, but will make South Carolina by nightfall :)
